Summer
Hi Guys,
Well, we wait all winter for our spring fishing season to start, and before you know it, it's blown by. ??!! Even though we had a cold, wet and windy Spring, it turned out to be one of our best springs ever? We caught and released hundreds of 3 to 4 pound smallmouths with quite a few over 5 pounds!! We also caught quite a few Landlocked Salmon, Lake Trout, Pike and some very nice walleye too!!! I believe the reason we did so well this spring was because the water temps stayed cooler longer,so the pre-spawn was longer. Right now most of the Smallmouth Bass are in spawn or post spawn. The Largemouth,Pike and walleye are past the post sprawn now. Check out these photos from the past few weeks.
Anytime now the post spawn will be done and the Bass will be feeding again. From about now thru early July is one of the best times of the year for "TOP WATER" Bass fishing. Usually we catch them in less than 10 feet of water with a variety of topwater, Senko type lures, Jerkbaits, Drop shot, etc. Once the water temps reach over 70 degrees. The fish make their way to deeper water and remain there until the waters cool sometime late September/early October, The summer fishing is primarily trolling for Trout and Salmon, and also jigging for Lakers and Bass. We do offer "GUIDED" COMBO packages where you may fish part of the day for Trout and Salmon and part of the day for Bass and Pike. Here are shots from last year's summer fishing. Our lake, LONG POND, right behind the lodge is great, almost all summer. Best times of the day are early morning and evening JUST TO LET YOU KNOW , UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE STILL CHARGING A TEMPORARY $15.00 A DAY, PER BOAT, PER DAY, GAS SURCHARGE, FOR OUR GUIDED FISHING TRIPS. "HOPEFULLY WE WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE IT OFF WHEN AND IF GAS PRICES DROP,"
Well guys, I think that is it for now. Like always, hope to see you soon.
Pete
