Spring
Hi Guys,
Well, has this been a long, cold winter or what?!! Actually though, it was only a little colder than normal. I guess it's just that the past few winters were way above normal and we just got spoiled!! Our lake, Long Pond, is back to its normal 36" of ice!!! We will be out back, ice fishing in just long sleeve shirts next week, because the temps might be in the 50 or 60 degrees. It's a fun time and the ice will probably last right thru the end of March. Lake Champlain, on the other hand, usually breaks up earlier from the winds, melting snow in the mountains, and then, we will be ready to open for Spring!! Here are some of the ice fishing photos from this winter so far: You will see my Grandson, Cade here with a number of different fish he caught through the ice. In "ONE" day, he caught 9 different species, which I have NEVER DONE!. The one photo here of the ice with splotches of snow on it, is where Joe Amend, of PA, fell. He did have a sore back for a week but thankfully he didn't hurt the ice at all!! lol Never forget your ice creepers!
Spring
We are usually out on the big lake, Lake Champlain, about a week or so after the ice is out. Believe it or not, the best fishing then, is not for Lake Trout or Salmon, but for "Smallmouths"! Also, it's the best time of the year for stream and river fishing for Browns, Brook, Rainbow Trout and Landlocked Salmon. There are no crowds of fishermen on the banks here. Which is really great!! The lake fishing for Salmon and Trout Is a couple of weeks later and Largemouths and Pike fishing doesn't start until Mid May. Here are the photos from last Spring. Mid April thru mid June time is definitely the best time of the year for "Quantity" of fish, in almost all species.
If you are planning to come up to fish with us, with a guide or on your own, this spring, and we hope you do, and if you can be flexible on your dates, we can probably get you in. The most dates that are available are in April and June. Many of our fishermen book a year in advance, just for that time of year! Well guys, I guess that is it for now, it's time to get our boats and fishing stuff ready!! Hope to see you soon. It won't be long now
Rates
Well guys, I have Good news, and Bad news! The good news is that our rates on all our packages will remain the same as it has been for the past three years! The Bad news is that, in recent weeks, the fuel prices have gone out of sight, as you probably know? If the fuel prices don`t go down by the time we open for spring, we will have no choice but to add a surcharge! In our business, we use a lot of fuel for our trucks and boats, cause we travel many miles to get you fish! When and if the prices go down, we will definitely take it off. So sorry, but I think we are all going thru the same thing?! Crazy times, Huh?!
Bye for now,
Pete
