July
Hi Everyone,
How's the summer going for you? Ours has been brutally hot and muggy!!! About 10 years ago, only about 10% of the population here had air conditioning, because we only had a few days with temps in 90s , a year. Now, about 90% have air conditioning..There is no doubt now, in my mind, there IS global warming! In our last update, which was in June, the surface temperature on Lake Champlain was 45 degrees. Now it is already 75 degrees and it isn't even August yet. As in most places in the country, we have had a lot of rain this year. But the fishing was really good as you can see from these latest photos!! Now we are coming into the "dog days" of summer and the Bass and Pike fishing has been slowing down. The most action fishing in the summer months, is deep water trolling and jigging for Lake Trout and Salmon. We also catch some nice smallmouths on the deeper reefs and humps with jigs, swimbails and drop shots. If any of you guys are thinking of fishing with us this summer we do offer a combination of Trout and Salmon, and smallmouth Bass fishing . We've done this in the past couple of years and it was very successful, as you can see from these photos from last summer!!
In the past few years the summer fishing has gone right thru mid September. Not so long ago, September, use to be a fall month, now, it is still summer!!!!
FALL FISHING
Our fall fishing now starts late September/early October and goes right thru mid November . Fall has always been the best time of the year for quality fish. our lodge records , 6 pound 10 ounces Smallmouth, 8 pound Largemouth , 25 pound Pike 17 pound lake Trout, and a 10 pound Landlocked Salmon have all been caught in the "Fall".BOOK EARLY FOR FALL
If any of you are thinking of coming up to fish during the fall, and need a guide, try to book as early as you can. As I mentioned in recent updates, we are now down to only a handful of guides, from over 10 guides we had not so long ago. Some have passed away, others have moved away, and it seems no one out there wants to be a guide. Being a guide, does means being out there in almost all weather conditions, like wind, rain, snow, etc. So, I guess, no one wants to do that anymore?!! Well guys, bye for now and hope to see ya soon!!Pete
