ACGS - Quality Fishing, with Quality People

Lake Champlain Fall FishingIt was a long, hot summer and now I am ready for my favorite time of the year, “FALL”, when we catch our biggest fish!!

Hi everyone:

I hope all is well and you've had a great summer.  I for one, am glad it’s almost over.  It was a long, hot summer and now I am ready for my favorite time of the year, FALL, when we catch our biggest fish!!

Unlike this past spring and summer, I hope this fall the weather will be somewhat normal.  When I wrote the last newsletter in late June, we were just coming out of a severe drought. Since then we have broken records on rainfall for the month of July and Lake Champlain water levels were the highest they have ever been for that time of year.  Now we’ve had record breaking heat for weeks even though high water is usually good, the water temperature rose so much and so quickly that it really turned the fishing off.  It was the worst fishing summer we’ve ever had Because of the conditions, I had to turn a lot of fishermen away this summer.  Our business is repeat fishermen and I can’t honestly tell anyone to come up when the fishing is not good.  I hope that they appreciate the honesty and will try us again.  The guys who fish our Lake,Long Pond, did very well, fishing the early mornings and late evenings.

Technical Problems

For the past few months or so we have quite a few internet and telephone problems.  If any of you were trying to communicate with me and I didn’t return your message I am very sorry.  You should always get a message back from me.  If I don't answer you, please try again.

New Dock

Long Pond LodgeThis summer we put in another dock, right along side of the rollers, so hopefully you can get the boats in easier.  Also you won’t have to carry you motor and equipment as far, I hope it helps.

The Fall Ahead

As of this writing we are in the doldrums of summer fishing.  Years ago, when we first started the business, in late August the weather was starting to cool down and by early September we were already into our fishing season.  But as the years have gone by, Fall has come later and later and now September is a summer month.  Now the fall bite really doesn’t start until late September early October.  In recent years October is like September used to be and November is like October used to be.  There is no doubt in my mind that the climate is changing, so if you are coming up for our great fall fishing, I really wouldn’t come till late September.  We always say ‘SPRING IS QUANTITY OF FISH—SUMMER IS QUALITY and fall is for '’QUANTITY OF QUALITY’.   These photos you see are from our past couple of fall seasons.  As you can see, we catch some ‘AWESOME” Fish!!! We catch  many six pound plus largemouths and  smallmouths, and ten to twenty lb plus pike, and some quality salmon and lake trout during the fall season   Late October/November is probably the only time of the year where you can catch trophy bass and pike, and then, salmon and lake trout on “Top”, all in the Same Day!!! ‘VERY EXCITING’!!!!!

On a very sad note we lost one of our dear friends Art Neilson. Art has been coming up for a number of years, trying for that six pound smallmouth.  He never did get one but was very close. We will miss him very much.

For those of you who have already booked for the fall, and have not sent a deposit, give me a call or email when you get this newsletter, just to make sure we have your correct dates.  IT’S AN AGE THING, YOU KNOW!!!!!.  Also if you have not booked in and want to come up this fall, please give us a call as soon as possible, especially if you are looking to book for the weekend.

Well guys, I guess that’s it for another newsletter.  I hope you can make it up this fall, before the L-O-N-G winter.  Fall might be the last season of the year to fish, but it is definitely the BEST!!!!!

Bye for now,

Pete
