Hi everyone,

Well, Summer is finally here and I have no idea what happened to Spring?! In the last newsletter I mentioned how shallow all the lakes and streams were in our area and it was almost a record, and Now, they are at a record High?!! I guess we have to accept the fact that there is no normal weather anymore?! It is what it is!! But looking at the weather across the country, We`ve had the best weather anywhere?!

As you can see by these photos, in spite of the weather, we had a great spring!! It was especially good for smallmouths, landlocked salmon and trout, but for pike and largemouths, not so much, except for Long Pond, which of course, is always good.

Right now the water temperatures are rising fast and the fish are following the bait out to deeper water. They will soon be near the deep water reefs and rock piles where they will remain through out the summer. Around mid to late September (Normally) the waters cool and the fish school up and start to really feed for the winter ahead.

During the summer we fish for the Smallmouths and Pike with deep water crank baits, deep suspended jerk baits, as well as heavier jigs, drop shot, and some blade baits. Summer largemouths hold in the deeper weed beds and we get them on senkos, crank baits, and jerkbaits and sometimes, weedless frogs. Bass and pike fishing here, as it is in most places, is definitely much slower in the summer then it is in the spring and fall, but we do get some nice ones!

Fishing Long Pond as well as our other inland lakes in the summer is really limited to early morning and late evening fishing.

I guess the most productive summer fishing is our deep water trolling for our trout and salmon on Lake Champlain. As you can see by these recent photos, our trout and salmon are getting bigger and more abundant each year!! We`re catching many Landlocked salmon over 5 lbs now and Lakers over 10, as well as some really nice browns and rainbows!!

Well Guys, I guess that is it for now. I hope to see you all soon, if not this summer, maybe this Fall. Fall is the very best time of the year for our biggest fish, and that goes for almost all species of fish we go for.

If you are planning a trip with us this fall, and haven`t booked yet, give me a call as soon as you can cause many dates book up quick, especially weekends!!

Bye for now and have a good one!!

Pete
