ACGS - Quality Fishing, with Quality People

Thank you for your inquiry, Long Pond Lodge and the Adirondack-Champlain guide service has been a family business since 1978. Our lodge is located four miles off the NYS Northway (rt. 87), exit 33. We are approximately one hour and fifteen minutes north of Lake George, one half hour east of lake placid, and about twenty minutes south of Plattsburgh, NY. Our unique location puts us within easy driving distance of most people living in the northeast (usually less than six hours away). We are centrally located in a great fishing area. Hundreds of lakes, ponds, streams, and rivers of the Adirondack Mountains and Lake Champlain surround us. Many species of game fish are found in these waters including largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, pike, Muskie, Landlocked Salmon, Lake Trout, Brown, Brook, and Rainbow Trout. Our most popular fish is our trophy Smallmouth Bass, probably the best fishing of its kind in the country!!!

For Fishermen Only

Our lodge is exclusively for fishermen and their families who fish. It is not a resort lodge. We are open year-round so we also offer ice fishing, (check our ice fishing rates). The lodge over looks scenic Long Pond, which in its self is a great bass and pike lake, about a mile and a half in length and about 400 acres in size. The main attraction in our lodge is our trophy room, a huge living room filled with fish mounts, a TV area, and a dining area that overlooks the lake. Over the years, many a great fish story has been told in this room. Downstairs we have 5 bedrooms each accommodating a party of one to four, (we don`t mix parties) and we have three and one half bathrooms with showers.

Meals

All meals at the lodge are served family style, everyone eats the same and all the food is good home cooking. If anyone is allergic to certain food, or is on a special diet, we can accommodate them as long as we know a head of time. Our dinners usually consist of ham, turkey, Italian, etc. with all the trimmings. Breakfast includes bacon and eggs or sausage and eggs, french toast, hot or cold cereal, juice, coffee or tea. Boxed lunches to be taken out on the water consist of sandwiches, snacks, and soda or water. You may bring extra snacks and drinks because it is a long day on the water.

How It All Works

Fishermen may arrive anytime on their arrival date and immediately fish long pond with our john boats or launch their own boat or canoe. Checking into their actual room isn`t until after 5 pm. After your first night, breakfast is served between 5:30 and 6:30 PM. We pack your lunch for your fishing day. Then you are off to fish our lake, or maybe you are fishing Lake Champlain, or the many other lakes and ponds we have in the nearby Adirondacks, with your boat. Or maybe, you would like to wade fish the many famous streams and rivers we have nearby. We will definitely give you directions to the “recent” fishing hotspots so you have a much better chance of success. Or maybe, you would like to use our renowned guide service (check our guide service rates) with even a better chance of success. Our guides are out there almost “every” day. Dinner is served at 6:30 pm every day. After dinner, long pond is waiting!! Or maybe you just want to kick back and watch tv, read, play pool etc. Then you get another night over and a breakfast and then you may spend the rest of that day fishing long pond until you have to leave. That is package # 1 (prices and longer stays are covered in our rate section)

Our Guide Service

The Adirondack-Champlain Guide Service has been in business since 1978 and over the years we have guided thousands of fishermen. Our return rate of fishermen is over 80%, many come two and three times a year! Whether you fly fish, use spinning or bait casting tackle, and whether you like wade fishing, trolling or casting from a boat, we have a guide for you. They are very experienced and very personable. If you are vacationing in our area and staying at a local hotel, motel, campground etc., our guides will pick you up there, or at a convenient meeting place (check our “guide service only” rates). If you are staying at our lodge and need a guide for a day or so, we can arrange that. Out of all our packages, that is the best value. Please check it out, you can`t beat it!!

Except for bass and walleye, in certain areas, you can fish for most species of game fish all year. Here are our most popular fish and the best times to get them.

  • Largemouth Bass - Mid May thru Early November
  • Smallmouth Bass - Mid April thru Mid-November
  • Northern Pike – Mid-May thru Mid-November
  • Walleye - May, July thru August (night)
  • Brown, Brook, Rainbow Trout - Late April thru October
